With our commitment to innovative care, we are excited to introduce Centering Pregnancy, a new model of prenatal care that empowers women, strengthens patient-provider relationships, and builds a sense of community.
What Is Centering Pregnancy?
Centering Pregnancy is a unique prenatal care model that brings together traditional OB visits with extended interaction and group support. Instead of a typical one-on-one appointment, Centering Pregnancy combines health assessments with education and community building. This approach not only helps women feel more prepared for childbirth, but also improves health outcomes.
Participants in Centering Pregnancy at A Woman’s Place will attend 10 interactive group sessions with other expectant mothers who share similar due dates. These sessions begin around the 16th week of pregnancy and continue up until delivery. During each session, women receive individualized care from their healthcare provider, but also enjoy extended time to ask questions, engage in discussions, and learn from both professionals and peers.
Why Choose Centering Pregnancy?
Centering Pregnancy offers several unique benefits that make it a valuable option for expectant mothers:
- Improved Health Outcomes: Studies have shown that women who participate in Centering Pregnancy experience a reduced risk of preterm birth and other complications.
- 10x More Provider Interaction: The group format allows for more time with your provider, offering the chance to dive deeper into questions and concerns that may not fit into a traditional appointment.
- Community Building: Pregnancy can be an isolating experience, especially for first-time mothers. Centering Pregnancy allows participants to meet others due around the same time, providing a support network and fostering friendships.
- Empowered, Patient-Centered Care: With extended sessions and group discussions, women are more empowered in their care, giving them confidence in their pregnancy and birth journey.
- Stress Reduction: The group sessions encourage sharing, learning, and mutual support, helping to reduce stress and promote a positive pregnancy experience.
In addition to these benefits, 97% of participants report being highly satisfied with their Centering Pregnancy experience.
What to Expect from a Centering Pregnancy Session
Centering Pregnancy sessions are facilitated by our dedicated team of experts, including Jessica Fuentes, CNM, and Lori Votapek, APRN. The sessions include a combination of:
- Health Assessments: Each session starts with a private health check-up, including weight, blood pressure, and fetal heart monitoring.
- Education and Discussion: Facilitators provide interactive learning on topics such as nutrition, breastfeeding, labor preparation, and newborn care. Local guest speakers are also invited to share expertise.
- Peer Support: Participants have the opportunity to share their experiences, ask questions, and offer support to others in the group.
No Extra Cost, No Extra Time
Centering Pregnancy is offered at no additional cost—this program is part of your standard prenatal care at A Woman’s Place. Plus, the sessions are designed to fit into your schedule with no wait times. We start on time, and we end on time.
