Perimenopause and Menopause: A Holistic Approach to Women's Health

By Dr. Cristina Tzilinis at A Woman’s Place in Naples, FL

I am passionate about helping women with their physical and emotional healthcare. I love total woman care, and I strive to be holistic in my approach. I make a great effort to know my patients’ full medical history and incorporate that into excellent gynecologic care.

I especially like helping women with perimenopause and menopause and coming up with an individualized plan for this transitional time. We are now living longer in our menopausal years, and “health span” is key… not just longevity.

Understanding Perimenopause and Menopause

Perimenopause, the time leading up to menopause, often brings fluctuating hormone levels that can result in symptoms such as irregular periods, hot flashes, mood swings, and sleep disturbances. Menopause itself begins when a woman has gone 12 months without a menstrual period, signaling the end of her reproductive years.

These transitions are unique for every woman, which is why I believe in creating personalized care plans tailored to each patient’s physical, emotional, and lifestyle needs. Whether you’re experiencing bothersome symptoms or looking to prioritize long-term health, I can help guide you through this chapter with a holistic and comprehensive approach.

A Personalized Plan for Every Woman

I have been awarded Top Doctor in Naples by Gulfshore Life Magazine and the prestigious Women’s Choice Award. I absolutely love attending the Harvard Medical School Annual Update in Obstetrics & Gynecology (now in its 61st year). I have found this to be the most up-to-date and comprehensive conference!

This commitment to continuing education helps me ensure that my patients benefit from the latest evidence-based research. I strive to provide treatments that not only address symptoms but also help women thrive in their post-menopausal years. From hormone replacement therapy (HRT) to lifestyle modifications such as nutrition, exercise, and mindfulness, my goal is to enhance my patients’ health span and help women thrive well beyond menopause.

Celebrating Wellness and Life’s Milestones

I am celebrating my daughter’s acceptance into her dream college and starting my new chapter of being an “empty nester.” I have two children, and my son is already a sophomore in college.

I enjoy self-care and learning more about what makes me healthy and happy. I recently went on a retreat with my sister to Arizona to learn more about mindfulness and overall wellness. I found this retreat exceptional and look forward to going again.

This personal journey reminds me of the importance of self-care for my patients. Whether through mindfulness, balanced nutrition, or medical treatments, I encourage women to embrace tools and practices that promote health and happiness during every stage of life.

As a physician at A Woman’s Place, I strive to help my patients embrace every stage of life with confidence and health. Whether you’re just starting to show symptoms of perimenopause or navigating post-menopause, my individualized approach ensures your care plan is as unique as you are.
